Chapter One
A few blocks away from Furinkan High School, Ukyo was admitted to Nerima Medical Center, a small prefecture in Tokyo. Grasping her stomach, Ukyo was thinking of the events that had happened over ten years ago, when she had graduated from Furinkan High School with her classmates Ranma Saotome and Akane Tendo, then married Ryoga Hibiki a year following that. To Ukyo, it seemed like only yesterday. In the examination room, Ukyo impatiently waited for the doctor to come back with the test results. “What is taking that jackass so long?” she thought to herself. “It seems like I’ve had this stomach flu forever.” A handsome doctor with blond hair, blue eyes, with round-framed eyeglasses came in. With his clipboard in his hand, he sat across from Ukyo with an anxious look on his face. “Dr. Takahashi, what do the test results say?” Ukyo asked. The doctor put his hand on Ukyo’s shoulder and smiled. “Congratulations!” he said. Ukyo gave the doctor a strange look wondering why he was so happy. “Congratulations?! For what? For having a two week flu bug?” “I’m afraid you have the nine month bug, if you know what I mean.” Ukyo’s eyes lit up in amazement as she looked at her stomach. “Really? You mean it?” “Yes, that’s what the tests say. You’re going to have a baby.” “Oh, thank you so much,” she said as she hugged the doctor.

Ukyo took the bus back to her Okonomiyaki restaurant and decided not to work for the first time. She went upstairs to her room and decided to go to bed early. “Wow! My first baby”, she thought to herself. “I can’t wait to tell Ryoga the good -- oh, no! The question is, how’s he gonna take it? What if he doesn’t want the baby?” Desperately trying to get her mind off the subject, Ukyo picked up her cookbook and started to read until her eyelids grew heavy. Ukyo dropped the book and fell asleep for about a few minutes until she felt someone’s hand on her forehead. “Hi, honey. I’m home”, said a voice. Ukyo slowly opened her eyes and there stood Ryoga. “How are you feeling?” “I still feel nauseated,” Ukyo said softly as she grasped her stomach. “I’m sorry. I’ll leave you alone for a while, if you’d like.” “No, wait!” Ukyo said as she pulled Ryoga towards the bed. Ryoga landed headfirst into the bed frame. “I have to tell you something.” “Uh...heheheh, okay. So what’s on your mind?” Ukyo stroked Ryoga’s bandanna away from his face trying to find a proper way to tell him the news. “Ryoga, honey. Remember when we got lost, when we were supposed to go to Kobe for our honeymoon and we ended up in Sapporo?” “Yeah, what about it?” “I think that’s when the nausea started.” Ryoga started to get worried, thinking that he did something to Ukyo. “Ukyo, what are you trying to tell me?” he asked nervously. “Ryoga, I’m trying to tell you that I’m pregnant.” she said as she shoved the medical report in his face. Ryoga’s eyes widened and his nose started to bleed. He landed on the floor and lost consciousness. Ukyo jumped out of bed dropping the medical report and knelt towards Ryoga. “Ryoga, honey?” Ryoga woke up quickly and jumped to his feet. “I’m okay, I’m okay,” he said with a nervous laugh. “So what do you think? Isn’t it great?” “I-I-I just don’t think I’m re-re-ready for this. I mean a ba-ba-bay-bay-baby is a lot of responsibility. Don’t you think that --?” “Ryoga, do you want this baby or don’t you?” Ukyo asked impatiently. “Uh... yeah,” he said nervously. “Okay, then. Look I can see it took you a very long time to get home, so let’s talk about it in the morning.” “Uh... sure okay.”

Ryoga left the house to go for a walk trying to get his mind of the news Ukyo told him. He ended up at the Tendo Dojo hoping that Akane was home. Ryoga went straight to a telephone pole and started hitting his head against it numerous times. “I AM SUCH AN IDIOT!!!!!!” he yelled. “How could I have passed out like that when I should be happy for the both of us. Aaaaaah! It’s just driving me crazy!” Not far away, Akane came home from the market with meat and white onions in her shopping bag. She dropped her bag when she saw Ryoga banging his head repeatedly against the telephone pole. “Ryoga! What are you doing?” she asked. Akane desperately ran towards Ryoga and pulled him away from the telephone pole trying to get him to calm down. “Oh, Akane! I did something awful!” he said. “Okay, okay. Calm down and tell me what happened.” “Um... well. Ukyo came back from her doctor’s appointment and…” “And… what?” “The doctor said she’s pregnant. When she told me, I passed out like a wimp. Oh, Akane, I don’t know what to do. I don’t even know if I’m ready for this. I’m happy for Ukyo, but at the same time, I’m really scared. I don’t have any experience with babies. Akane smiled and sympathized with Ryoga. “Well, I for one am happy for you,” she said. “You shouldn’t worry too much. It’s not like you’re going to take care of the baby alone or anything.” Akane tried to think of a way to put his worries away for she probably knew the reason why Ryoga came. “Tell you what. Why don’t you come home with me for the night, then you and I can talk to Ukyo in the morning. What do you say?” “Really? You really mean it? Oh, thanks, Akane.” “Sure,” she giggled. “Now, come on.”

Chapter Two
Ryoga and Akane walked through the sliding doors of the Tendo Dojo and went into the kitchen. Not far behind was Ranma-kun in the hall. “Oh, goodie,” he said sarcastically. “Ryoga’s here!” Akane offered Ryoga a seat while she made some tea. Ryoga couldn’t help but notice how much the dojo has changed since Soun, and everyone who lived in the dojo moved out. “So, have you heard from your sisters, Akane?” “Yeah, Nabiki is working hard at Chukyo University to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Kasumi is coming back home tomorrow. I’m sure that Ranma will be excited once she walks through the door. “Still complains about your cooking, doesn’t he?” “Ohhhh, yeah. Last night, I made some beef stew for him and he complained when I put vinegar instead of white wine into it. So I made a simple mistake. He didn’t have to make such a big deal about it.” “Well, I guess that’s Ranma for you,” he chuckled. “What about your dad and Mr. Saotome? “Dad and Mr. Saotome are doing fine in the old folk’s home. They couldn’t be happier.” As Ryoga sipped his tea, Ranma-kun signaled for Akane. He wasn’t too pleased to see Ryoga and Akane having a nice and quiet conversation. Akane didn’t respond to his signal, for she thought Ranma was teasing her. “Pssst! Akane!,” Ranma-kun said softly. “Come out here. I wanna talk to you.” “All right. I’ll be there in a minute,” she said impatiently.

* * *

Ranma-kun and Akane went into the training room to talk in private. Akane wasn’t really eager to hear what Ranma-kun wanted to talk to her about. “Okay, so what is it already?” she asked impatiently. “What’s he doing in here?” “Ryoga’s really upset, so I’m letting him spend the night here.” Ranma-kun’s eyes widened in anger, for he never got along with Ryoga. “He’s gonna do WHAT?! Why? What happened?” “Ryoga just found out that Ukyo’s pregnant and he doesn’t know if he can handle the responsibility of taking care of a baby,” Akane said. “Oh, goodie! It’s enough that I live with tomboys, do I have to live with pigs as well?” “What did you say!?” she asked in an angry manner. Akane was always offended whenever Ranma-kun calls her a tomboy. It was all Akane could take. Raising Ranma-kun in the air, she forcefully threw him against the wall. “You jerk! “Hmph!” Akane exclaimed as she left the training room. Ranma-kun got up painfully with an angered look on his face. “Yep! No matter how many years I’ve lived with her, she’s still uncute.”

* * *

Akane went to her room and fell asleep. She figured that she had enough excitement for one night. Meanwhile, Ryoga was still in the kitchen finishing the tea Akane brewed for him. Ranma-kun, as desperate as ever ran into the kitchen. “Yo, Ryoga. Akane filled me in with the news.” “Aw, go ahead and laugh, if it’ll make you feel better,” Ryoga said. The room grew silent for a couple of seconds only to be interrupted by the sudden outbursts of laughter that came from Ranma-kun. “What’s so funny!?” Ryoga asked. Ranma-kun stopped laughing and turned his head in another direction. “Oh, nothing. Who would’ve thunk you had it in you.” Ryoga raised his fist towards Ranma-kun, ready to attack. Nothing happened. Ryoga wasn’t in the mood to do so. “If I didn’t feel this way, I’d pound you into the ground, so just consider yourself lucky.” Ryoga left the kitchen in anger and went into the guestroom, which took him a half hour to get there.

Chapter Three
The next morning, Ranma-kun woke up and was still angry at the fact that Ryoga spent the night. It was 10:00 AM and all was quiet in the Tendo Dojo, until the door slided open. “I’m home,” said a voice. “All right,” Ranma-kun exclaimed as he ran down the stairs. It was Kasumi in her long silk dress and sweet smile she always had. “I brought you some breakfast on my way home,” Kasumi said. “Wow! Pork buns! Oh, thanks, I was starving,” he said as he tore the package and gobbled the whole dish of pork buns. “Oh, my! If I knew you were THAT hungry, I would’ve bought the dim sum as well,” she said. “If Akane needs me, I’ll be back in 15 minutes,” Ranma-kun said as he took his backpack and left.

* * *

Ranma-kun went for a walk to clear his mind. He couldn’t handle seeing Ryoga and Akane in the same house. He passed by Furinkan High School, thinking of the days when he was there as well as a coffee shop, where Dr. Ono Tofu’s Chiropractic Clinic used to be. “Stupid Akane,” he said to himself. “Then again… maybe Ryoga is scared of becoming a father. Ugh! What am I saying? Why did have to dump his problems on us. It’s not like he cares about what happens to me.” As angry as he was, Ranma-kun kicked a trash can standing in an alley, only to come face to face with an angry dog. Ranma-kun’s eyes widened as the dog growled and barked at him. “Um… n-n-n-nice doggie. G-g-g-good doggie,” he said nervously but to no avail. The dog jumped on Ranma-kun, ripped his sleeve and bit him on his left arm. Ranma fell and dropped his backpack. He screamed for help, but no one heard him. Luckily he landed near a baseball bat that was lying right next to him. Ranma-kun raised the bat and whacked the dog numerous times. The dog ran away. Ranma-kun got up slowly, covered his wound with a handkerchief he had in his backpack, and ran towards Nerima Medical Center. He swung the doors open and went up to the front desk. “Young man, are you hurt?” the receptionist asked. “Well, duh!” he thought to himself. “Um… is Dr. Tofu in?” asked Ranma-kun. “Just a second,” she said as she checked the computer. “Yes, he’s in. Should I tell him who you are?” “Ranma Saotome,” he sighed. “Okay, will you wait over there?” “Um… okay,” Ranma-kun said. Five minutes later, a man in a suit with brown hair and round-framed glasses approached Ranma-kun. “Hi, Ranma.” It was Dr. Tofu. “What are you doing here,” he said. “Um… not right here,” Ranma-kun whispered. He was too embarrassed to show Dr. Tofu the prizewinner on his arm. Dr. Tofu showed him into the examination room. “So how do like working here, Dr. Tofu,” Ranma-kun asked. “Oh, I love it. It's better than being just a chiropractor. I figured that I should go back to college and get a degree to work in either pediatrics and maternity. Okay, let’s take a look at your arm.” Dr. Tofu and removed the handkerchief from Ranma-kun’s arm. “This is dreadful,” Dr. Tofu exclaimed. “The bite marks are very deep. I don’t think a rabid dog did this, but I’ll have to wait for the test results.” Ten minutes later, Dr. Tofu came back with the test results. Ranma-kun was terrified thinking that a rabid dog could've bitten him. “You can relax, Ranma. The dog wasn't rabid,” Dr. Tofu said. “Whoa, that's a relief,” Ranma-kun said. “But just to be sure, I'm going to give you an injection.” “Will it take long? Ranma-kun asked” “Oh, not at all.” Just as Dr. Tofu was going to give Ranma-kun the shot, the phone rang. “Just a second, Ranma. I'll be right back.” Dr. Tofu ran to the phone and left the needle next to the phone. “Hello? Oh, hello, Mrs. Yokogawa. Yes, I have a donor for you,” said Dr. Tofu. “I'll be here in my office, until 5:00. Okay, I'll see you later. Bye,” he said and he hung up. Dr. Tofu took out another needle, which contained a frozen embryo. He placed it next to the needle that contained the serum for Ranma-kun. “I have a patient coming in, so I'm gonna have to make this quick,” said Dr. Tofu. “Oh, okay,” Ranma-kun said. The door opens and Kasumi walks in. “Hello, Dr. Tofu,” she said. Dr. Tofu's glasses started to fog up and he accidentally picks up the wrong needle. It was the needle that contained the frozen embryo. “Oh, hi, Kasumi,” Dr. Tofu said nervously. “Fancy meeting you here of all places.” “I came to return the book you loaned me the other day.” As Kasumi walked towards Dr. Tofu, she saw Ranma-kun’s wounded arm. “Oh, my! Ranma, what happened?” she asked. “Ranma was attacked by a dog,” he said facing his skeleton, Betty. “Uh, Doctor? Kasumi’s over there,” said Ranma-kun pointing to his right. “Oh, sorry,” he said with maniacal laughter. “The tests say that it wasn't rabid, but I'm going to give him an injection to be on the safe side.” Dr. Tofu unbuttoned Ranma-kun’s shirt and injected the frozen embryo into his stomach. Ranma-kun was not aware that the frenzied doctor was injecting the wrong substance. “Uhhhh!,” groaned Ranma-kun. “It hurts! Are you supposed to push it in so far?” “Oh, I'm sorry,” he said with maniacal laughter. “There, you're done.” Ranma-kun buttoned his shirt jumped to his feet. “Kasumi, is Ryoga still home?,” Ranma-kun asked. “Oh, no. Ryoga left an hour ago,” she said. “Well, see ya’,” he said as he left.

Chapter Four
Four weeks went by since he saw Dr. Tofu. Ranma-kun woke up with a sick feeling in his stomach. He didn't feel like getting out of bed that morning. “Oh, man. It hurts,” he said grasping his stomach. “Ohhh, somebody kill me!” A few seconds later, Akane ran into Ranma-kun's room. “Ranma! What's the matter with you?!” she asked in an angry mood. “We were supposed to be at the Cat Café ten minutes ago, now get moving!” “Akane, wait a minute. I can't work today. I don't feel good,” he said grasping his stomach. “Ha-ha,” she said sarcastically. “You pulled that one last week, remember?” “No, I really mean it this time! I don't feel good.” Akane grew impatient and took Ranma-kun by the pigtail. “Oww!! Akane, what are you doing!?” Ranma-kun was dragged into the bathroom. Akane took his clothes, threw them in with him, and slammed the door shut. As sick as he was, he got dressed and left for the Cat Café with Akane.

“Nihao, Ranma,” said a sugary voiced girl with violet hair and reddish-pink eyes. She was wearing a cute, red Chinese outfit, and a yellow apron. It was Shampoo. She was holding a dish of dim sum, which was Ranma-kun's favorite dish. “Shampoo make Ranma delicious dim sum,” she said. Ranma-kun face turned green as he stared at the once delectable dish that seemed distasteful to him. Ranma-kun covered his mouth, for he couldn't stand looking at it or smelling it. “What matter, Ranma? You no like?” Shampoo asked. It was all Ranma-kun could handle. “Aaaaah! Please, your makin’ me sick!” he said as he ran towards the bathroom. “Hi-yah! When he get so sick all of sudden?” Shampoo asked. Ranma-kun’s retching was heard throughout the whole restaurant. The customers left since they were so disgusted of the sudden outbursts that came from Ranma-kun. Ranma-kun comes out of the bathroom groaning in disgust. “So you were telling the truth after all,” Akane said. “Of course! Why do you have to be so darn stupid!?” Ranma-kun asked in an angry mood. “What did you say to me!?” Akane asked as she raised her hand. She wanted to hit Ranma-kun, but stopped herself when she saw how pale Ranma-kun's face was. “Shampoo, I'll be right back. I just need to take Ranma home,” she said.

* * *

Akane didn’t think Ranma-kun would be able to walk back to the house in his sickened condition, so she bent over and stuck her arms out. “Come on,” she said. “Come on, what?” “Piggyback. You don’t want to walk home like that, do you?” Ranma-kun gave Akane an angry look because he hated the idea of Akane babying him. “Hey! No way! You can’t expect a guy to go and do something like that!,” he said. “What if someone saw us. What if they --”. Akane found a bucket of cold water and splashed it on Ranma-kun. Ranma-kun changed from his boy-type to his girl-type, Ranma-chan. “Oh, but if we’re both girls, it’s okay?” Akane asked. Ranma-chan gave up and allowed Akane to give her a piggyback ride home.

* * *

Akane and Ranma-chan went inside the Tendo Dojo and had a chat in the hallway. Akane, put her hand on Ranma-chan’s forehead. “Look, I’m sorry about what I said earlier,” Akane said as she felt Ranma-chan’s forehead. “You don’t look so good. Ranma, you’re burning up!” “What’s happening to me?” Ranma-chan said grasping her stomach. “I was fine yesterday, and now I feel completely nauseated.” “Hello, Akane,” Kasumi said. “Are you back from work early.” “Um, not exactly, Kasumi,” Akane said. “Oh, my! Poor, Ranma. What happened?” Kasumi asked. “Ranma threw up at the Cat Café the minute Shampoo brought in the dim sum,” Akane said. “Oh, no!” Ranma-chan said and covered her mouth. “Not again!” Ranma-chan ran towards the bathroom and slammed the door. “Ranma! What’s wrong,” Akane asked. There was nothing Akane could do. She was trying to come up with a solution. The phone rang and Akane ran towards to phone. “Tendo Dojo. Hello?” she said. “Oh, hi, Dr. Tofu. How are you? Yes, he is. Hold on a minute.” The phone call was for Ranma-kun. Akane ran down the hall and knocked on the bathroom door. “Ranma! It’s Dr. Tofu. He wants to talk to you. It seems urgent,” she said. “Okay, I’ll be out in a minute,” Ranma-chan said. Ranma-chan immediately took a bucket and filled it with hot water. She raised the bucket overhead and splashed herself with it, changing back to Ranma-kun. Ranma-kun came out of the bathroom and slowly walked down the hall. “Hello?” Ranma-kun’s eyes widened in fear. “What?! You found something? Like what? Oh, okay. I’ll be right there. See ya’.” Ranma-kun hung up and walked down the stairs. “I’m going to Dr. Tofu’s. I’ll be back in a while,” Ranma-kun said. “Okay, be back before 7:00,” Kasumi said.

Chapter Five
Ranma-kun walked all the way to Medical Center to see Dr. Tofu. Ranma-kun had no idea what the doctor had found. From the way Dr. Tofu sounded on the phone, it seemed important for Ranma-kun to see him. Ranma walks into the waiting room and talks to the receptionist. “May, I help you, young man?,” she asked. “Hi, I’m Ranma Saotome. I’m have an appointment with Dr. Tofu.” “Okay, will you wait over there?” asked the receptionist pointing to the waiting room. “Uh, yeah. Sure,” Ranma-kun said. Ranma waited for 5 minutes and Dr. Tofu came out. He had a worried look on his face. He looked as though as he saw a ghost. “Ranma, I’m glad you’re here,” he said. “Last time I saw you, I forgot whether I gave you the injection or not.” “You did,” Ranma-kun said. “How do you feel now?,” asked Dr. Tofu. “I feel so sick to my stomach,” Ranma-kun said. “Is that a symptom of rabies?" “I don't think so, but just to be sure, let's take a look,” Dr. Tofu said. Dr. Tofu told Ranma-kun to unbutton his shirt, so he could get a blood sample. “Well, you don't have any rabies,” Dr. Tofu said. “Are you feeling congested or anything?” "No, not at all." “Do you think it was something you ate?” “No, it couldn't be.” Dr. Tofu started to get concerned and took out an ultra-sound kit and examined Ranma-kun and discovered a miniature form of life inside his body. Dr. Tofu gave Ranma-kun a strange look, for he couldn't believe what he saw. “What…?” Ranma-kun asked. “Why, you sly old dog,” Dr. Tofu said. “Call me crazy but… congratulations!” “Huh? Congratulations? For what?” “Well, the ultra-sound shows that you're pregnant.” “WHAT?!” Ranma-kun asked. “I am WHAT?!” “Well, according to the test results, it looks like you're going to have a baby?” “How can that be? I didn't do anything stupid or nothin’. What makes you think that I -- wait a minute! Weren't you going to see another patient the day you gave me the injection?” “Yes. It was a lady named, Mrs. Yokogawa. I was preparing her for artificial insemination.” Ranma-kun remembered that Kasumi was in the office before Dr. Tofu gave him the shot. “Aaaaaaah!! Doc, what did you do to me!?” Ranma asked in a panicked tone. “Well, you should be happy to know that you're doing fine,” Dr. Tofu said in a calm manner. “Whadd’ya mean ‘happy’!?” Ranma yelled. “I'm a guy! I can’t have babies. How could this have happened?” “Probably when the embryo was inserted into your body, it fused with your female DNA.” “I can't go on like this,” Ranma-kun said. “It's enough that I have to learn about female modesty, do I have to learn about maternal instincts?” “What you’re experiencing is morning sickness. Don’t worry, it’ll pass. The best remedy is to always have something in your stomach.” “WHAT?! This is so stupid,” Ranma-kun said in an angry tone. “Well, I can schedule an appointment for an abortion tomorrow.” “Tomorrow? Why not today?” “I have another patient coming in.” “Oh, goodie,” Ranma-kun said sarcastically. “Fine, I’ll be here tomorrow,” he sighed.

* * *

It was 7:00 p.m. Ranma-kun left the office and returned to the Tendo Dojo only to find Akane and Ukyo in the hall. “They can’t know anything about this,” he thought to himself. “Yo, Akane!” he said. “Oh, hi, Uu-chan. How are you feeling?” “Still trying to get through morning sickness,” said Ukyo. “Otherwise, I’m okay.” “Oh, cool,” Ranma-kun said as he belched. He covered his mouth. “Oh, no! Not again,” he said as he ran towards the bathroom. “Ranma, honey! Are you okay?” Ukyo asked. “He’s been like this since this morning,” said Akane. Ranma-kun came out of the bathroom, walked down the hall slowly, grasping his stomach. His face was as pale as a ghost. “Ran-chan! What happened to you,” Ukyo asked. “I’ll, uh... tell ya’ later,” Ranma-kun said in an embarrassed tone. “Oh, okay. I came to tell you and Akane that our ten-year high school reunion is in a week.” “Oh, man! I completely forgot about that. What time? “At around 7:00 p.m.,” Ukyo said. “Are you guys coming.” “Sure, why not? I’ll, uh... I’ll be there. Akane, I’ll be in my room.” “Uh... sure, Ranma,” said Akane in a concerned tone. “Oh, and Uu-chan. Congrats on your new baby,” he said as he walked upstairs. “Thanks, Ranma.”

* * *

As Ranma-kun slowly crawled into bed, he looked down at his stomach and started talking. “Look, don’t take this the wrong way. It’s not that I don’t want you or nothin’, but I’m a guy. I can’t have babies. Oh, man! I don’t know what to do.” Ranma-kun began to cry. Akane came into Ranma-kun’s room and was surprised to see tears run down his face. “Ranma. What are you crying for?” “Huh? I’m not crying,” he said wiping the tears from his face. “I... uh... have something in my eyes. Yeah, that’s it,” he laughed nervously. “Uh... heheheh. O-kay then,” Akane said as she left. After Akane left, Ranma-kun tiptoed downstairs and called Dr. Tofu. Dr. Tofu wasn’t working that night, so Ranma-kun left a message on the answering machine saying that he didn’t want the abortion.

Chapter Six
A week had passed since Ranma-kun found out he was pregnant. Ranma-kun's nausea was gone, and now, he was as happy as cricket. It was 6:00 p.m. Ranma-kun was in the bathroom getting into his tuxedo. As he started to comb his hair, he put his hands to his stomach. “I don’t even know if you’re a boy or a girl,” he thought to himself. “Don’t worry, it’ll be our little secret for now. The question is, what’ll happen when the time comes. Do I say I have an ulcer or what? Oh, well, no point in worrying about it now.” “Ranma, are you ready?” Akane asked as she knocked on the door. “In a minute.” “Honestly,” Akane thought to herself. “And here I thought girls were the slowest ones. Then again, Ranma is half-girl. With him, anything’s possible.” Ranma-kun stepped out of the bathroom, and saw Akane in a long, beautiful, yellow dress. “Uh... Akane, hi,” he said in a nervous manner. “Ranma... hi. You look... nice.” “Thanks. So what ya’ got in the bag.” “Just some pigs in blankets. I figured I should cook something simple.” “Cool,” Ranma-kun said as he reached for a couple of pigs in blankets from the bag. “You never used to like my cooking,” Akane said. “I still don’t,” said Ranma-kun as he stuffed his face. “Something's wrong, isn't it? Isn't it?” “No, nothing's wrong,” Ranma-kun said in a panicked voice. “Are you sure?” “Yeah, positive.” Ranma-kun desperately tried to think of a way to get Akane of the subject. He looked at his watch. “Well, will you look at the time,” Ranma-kun said quickly. “We've gotta get going. Let's go.” “Um… okay,” Akane said.

* * *

Ranma-kun and Akane hurried over to Furinkan High. As they reached, there was indistinct chatter and dancing. “Yo, Ryoga,” Ranma-kun said as he ran towards Ryoga. “It’s great to see you. How’ve you been,” he asked as he patted Ryoga’s shoulder. Ryoga’s eyes widened in disbelief. “What?! And I thought Ukyo was the one who felt lighter than air,” Ryoga said. “What’s with the cheery attitude? I thought you hated me.” “I don’t know. Maybe, I just feel like having a good time,” Ranma-kun said. Ukyo saw Ranma-kun at a distance and walked towards him. Her hair was pulled up and she was wearing a long, beautiful, violet dress. “Ran-chan. It’s great to see you!” “Hey, Uu-chan. You look great! Well, you still look the same.” “Well, not for long, if you know what I mean. But it doesn’t matter.” “Hey, Uu-chan. Where’s your spatula?” “Huh? Oh, the doctor told me that’s unsafe for me to carry heavy objects, so I’m putting that aside until the baby is born.” “Okay, no heavy objects,” Ranma-kun thought to himself. “Ran-chan, changing the subject, last time I saw you, you looked terrible. What happened?” Ukyo asked. Ranma-kun paused for a second trying to think of a good excuse. “Oh, Akane cooked one night. It was awful.” “I heard that,” Akane said in an angry tone. Ranma-kun had no intention of offending Akane and came up with a quick comeback. “Huh? Did I say ‘awful’? I meant to say, awfully good,” Ranma-kun laughed nervously. Akane wasn’t buying it and was about to hit Ranma-kun. Ukyo wanted no part in the fight. “Um... Ryoga, you said wanted dance, remember?” Ukyo asked tugging his tux. “What?! I never said -- ow!” Ryoga’s sentence was interrupted when Ukyo pinched him in the arm. “Oh, yeah. Uh... catch you later, Akane,” he said as Ukyo dragged him to the dance floor. “That looks like fun. Wanna dance?” Ranma-kun asked. “Stop being so nice to me, Ranma. You’re scaring me,” Akane said. “Come on. It’ll be fun.” “But, I thought you hated dancing,” Akane said in a weird manner. “No, I don’t. Come on, let’s go.” “Since when has he been so enthusiastic?” Akane thought to herself. “Last week, he was too sick to do anything and now he’s as happy as a clam. “Akane Tendo!” a voice called out. “Upperclassman, Kuno... and Sasuke!” Akane said. “Akane, mon cher. It’s been ages,” said Kuno as he opened his arms. “Now, Master Kuno,” Sasuke said. “You’ve gotta control yourself.” “Be silent, fool,” Kuno snapped. Sasuke hid behind Kuno in fear, for he couldn’t stand up for himself against Ranma-kun or Akane. Ranma-kun happily greeted Kuno, which was unusual, since the two of them are constantly fighting each other. “Yo, Kuno. Long time, no see,” Ranma-kun said in a cheery mood. “Curse you, Ranma Saotome! I shall smite thee!” Kuno snarled. “Aw, come on, Kuno. Let’s forgive and forget.” Ranma said as he placed patted Kuno’s back. Kuno’s eyes widened for he couldn’t believe Ranma-kun’s enthusiasm. “What’s this?” Kuno thought to himself. “Ranma Saotome in such a radiant personality? Intriguing.” “Yo, Akane. Do you wanna dance or not?” Ranma asked. “Okay, I’ll dance with you. But don’t expect too much from me,” Akane said. Ranma-kun and Akane had the whole dance floor to themselves, not to mention the cheering from their former classmates. Akane did a triple back-flip, while Ranma-kun was breakdancing. “Hey, Ryoga, Uu-chan! Come on! Wanna dance with us?” “Um... no thanks, Ranma. I’d rather watch,” Ryoga said. “I’ll wait for the slow dance,” Ukyo said. “Besides, the doctor told me to avoid anything that causes too much impact.” Ranma-kun stopped dancing once Ukyo mentioned ‘too much impact’. “Too much impact, huh? I guess that leaves out Martial Arts as well. Man, what a way to go,” Ranma-kun thought to himself. “Ranma, what’s wrong?” Akane asked. Ranma-kun hesitated for a while trying to come up with a good excuse. “Um... you know, I think I’ve had enough of a workout. I’ll wait for the slow dance,” Ranma-kun said. “What?! What are you talking about? Just a minute ago you asked Ryoga and Ukyo to join in,” Akane exclaimed. “Yeah, I know, but I figured we should all dance together,” Ranma-kun said. “Um... o-kay then,” Akane said in a strange manner.

* * *

Fifteen minutes went by and the music that was once disco, techno, and rap, changed to slow jazz. Ranma-kun and Akane were back on the dance floor, along with Ryoga and Ukyo and all of their former classmates. Akane didn’t like slow-jazz dancing and decided to pick up her pace. She was swinging her feet back and forth. Her shoe flew from her right foot and landed in someone’s table. “Uh... I’m sorry about that,” Akane said in an embarrassed tone. She walked to the table, where her shoe had landed. She put her shoe back on her foot and ran back to Ranma-kun. “I’ve gotta be honest with you Ranma,” Akane said. “Slow-jazz dancing just isn’t my thing. Is it okay if we stopped?” “Huh? Yeah, okay,” Ranma-kun said. “Ryoga, honey,” Ukyo said. “I think we should be heading back. I’m getting a little tired.” “That’s right. You wanna get some extra sleep for the baby,” Akane said. “I think we should all start heading home,” Ryoga said. “Does anyone know what time it is?” Ranma-kun checked his watch. “It’s almost Midnight. Hey, we’d better get going,” he said. “How are you two getting home.” “We’re walking home,” Ryoga said. “Really? Try not to get lost,” Ranma-kun said. “Watch it, Ranma,” Ryoga said. “Hey, why don’t you two take a cab with us,” Akane suggested. “Ryoga, honey. I really don’t feel like walking home tonight,” Ukyo said as she yawned. The four of them left the gymnasium and went outside.

The cab was waiting for Ranma-kun, Akane, Ryoga, and Ukyo. Akane was relieved to know that the driver remembered where to pick them up. “You know I gotta charge youse’ guys more for extra passengers,” the cab driver said. “Hey, we’ve got it covered,” Ranma-kun said. In the cab, Ranma-kun kept touching his hands in a gentle manner. “Feel how soft my skin is,” he sighed. “Huh? What are you talking about,” Ryoga asked in an awkward manner. “Nothin’! I’m talkin’ about nothin’,” Ranma-kun said. Ryoga frowned at Ranma-kun. “What with him?” Ryoga thought to himself. “If I didn’t know better, I’d say Ranma has some kind of special bond with Ukyo. It seems like everything Ukyo experiences, he’s feeling the same way.” The first stop was Uu-chan’s Okonomiyaki Restaurant. “Well, Mac. This is the place youse’guys wanted?” the cab driver asked. “Yes, thank you very much, sir,” Ryoga said. “Hey, Ukyo, we’re -- huh?” Ukyo was fast asleep. “Ukyo, hey. Hey,” Ryoga laughed as he was shaking Ukyo. Ukyo sat up and started yawning. “Huh? We’re here already?” Ukyo asked. “Come on, sleepyhead,” Ryoga said as he carried Ukyo. “Thanks, you guys. Good night.” “See ya’,” Ranma-kun said. “Good night, you two,” Akane said as the cab drove off.

* * *

Minutes later, the cab finally arrived at the doors of the Tendo Dojo. “Okay, Mac. This is it. This is the Tendo Dojo,” the cab driver said. Okay, let’s see that’s four passengers, plus the waiting, plus the two drop off, so that comes to a total of ¥3,500.” Ranma-kun paid the fare and the cab driver left. The minute Ranma-kun went into his room, he slipped into the covers and went straight to bed, fully clothed.

Chapter Seven
Nine weeks went by and it was Ranma-kun’s birthday. Ranma-kun slowly got up and for some reason, he felt cold, so he covered his body with a huge blanket. As he walked downstairs, he heard people chatting in the kitchen and wondered what was going on. He walked in the kitchen only to get startled by a sudden outburst of “SURPRISE!” from Akane, Kasumi, Ryoga, and Shampoo. “Happy Birthday, Ranma,” Kasumi said as she handed him a cupcake with a candle. “You guys didn’t have to go through all of this,” Ranma-kun said. “Shampoo never forget when Ranma have birthday,” Shampoo said. “Sooo, are you going to blow out your candle or not?” Akane asked. Ranma-kun waited few seconds before blowing the candle out. Everyone applauded after the flame was extinguished by Ranma-kun’s breath. “Hey, Ryoga, where’s Ukyo,” Ranma-kun asked. “She had a doctor’s appointment, so she couldn’t make it,” Ryoga said. “What? Shouldn’t you be with her?” Ranma-kun asked. “Ukyo said it’s okay if I miss this appointment as long as I don’t miss the next one,” Ryoga said. “Anyway, she asked me to give you this.” Ryoga handed him Ukyo’s birthday present. It was a dish of Okonomiyaki with a happy birthday message. “Good ol’ Uu-chan. I’ll never go hungry thanks to her,” Ranma-kun said as he gobbled up her present. “Hey, Ranma. What are you doing with that blanket on?” Akane asked. “It’s hot in here.” “Really? It feels cold to me,” Ranma-kun said. “Hold on, I’ll be right back.” Ranma-kun stepped out of the kitchen and went upstairs to his room. Ryoga followed Ranma-kun. Ryoga figured that Ranma-kun was hiding something. Ranma-kun took his blanket off only to notice a swollen belly. Ranma-kun’s eyes widened as he stared down at his enormous stomach. “My God,” Ryoga thought to himself. “And I thought Ukyo was huge. He’s almost as big as the dojo.” “Could it be? I’m starting to show?” Ranma-kun asked himself. “Well, kiddo, you’re gonna get me in a lot of trouble with Akane.” “Huh? Who’s he talking to?” Ryoga asked himself. “Don’t worry. As long as Akane doesn’t know, everything will be okay, kiddo,” Ranma-kun said as he patted his stomach. Ryoga grinned as he heard Ranma-kun talking with the miniature form of life in his body. “I’ve got you now, Ranma,” Ryoga thought to himself. “So, that’s why you were acting so weird,” Ryoga said as he stepped in. “No, Ryoga,” Ranma-kun exclaimed. It’s not what you think! I just --” “Hmm... let’s see,” Ryoga interrupted. “You were queasy at about the same time Ukyo was, not to mention the enthusiasm you had at our high school reunion, and now it’s, ‘Don’t worry. As long as Akane doesn’t know, everything will be okay, kiddo.’ What’s the matter? You don’t want Akane to know that you’re... PREGNANT?” Ranma-kun groaned in anger as his long time rival, Ryoga Hibiki, finally found a way to embarrass him. “Ryoga... buddy... pal,” Ranma-kun tittered. “Please don’t tell Akane about this. It can be our little secret.” “Oh, I don’t know,” Ryoga thought. “After all the times you beat me and humiliated me, I think you deserve a little payback.” “Aw, come on, Ryoga,” Ranma-kun pleaded. “Be a buddy!” Ryoga grinned for he finally has Ranma-kun is at his mercy. “Do you promise never to humiliate me?” Ryoga asked. “All right, all right. I promise,” Ranma-kun sighed. “Okay, first thing’s first. We gotta change you into a girl,” Ryoga said as he grabbed a bucket of cold water that was on the floor. Ranma-kun panicked as Ryoga walked towards him with the bucket. “No way, Ryoga! You’re not going to -- ” Ranma-kun sentence was interrupted as Ryoga picked up Akane’s picture which was sitting on Ranma-kun’s dresser and showed it to him as a warning if he refused. “Okay, okay! I’m changing, I’m changing,” Ranma-kun said. Ryoga splashed the cold water on Ranma-kun, which changed him to Ranma-chan. “Ryoga, it’s too cold. Could you give me my blanket back?” “Aw, poor widdle Ranma. “What’s the matter? Is the water too cold for you?” Ryoga teased. “Give me that!” Ranma-chan demanded as she snatched the blanket from Ryoga. Ranma-chan and Ryoga left the room, walked downstairs, and headed out. “Wait, Ryoga,” Ranma-chan said as he pulled Ryoga towards him. “Cover my face. Akane’s headed this way.” “Hey, Ryoga! Why does Ranma have a blanket over himself?” Akane asked. “Ranma’s caught this strange bug and he doesn’t want anyone to catch it,” Ryoga said. “I’m taking Ranma to the doctor.” “What? Oh, I’ll come with you,” Akane said. “No,” Ryoga said as he pushed Akane away. “It’s really contagious! You get a real bad case of the chills, not to mention swollen glands.” “Thanks a lot, Ryoga,” Ranma-chan whispered sarcastically. “Well, why aren’t you worried about catching it,” Akane asked. Ryoga hated lying to Akane, yet he had to think of an excuse. “Uh... I already had a shot,” Ryoga exclaimed as he ran out the door with Ranma-chan.

Ranma-chan and Ryoga headed for Nerima Medical Center. As they walked through the front doors, they both argued about their future plans. “No way! I’m not wearing no maternity dress,” Ranma-chan said. “Really? I think it’ll look cute on you,” Ryoga teased. “Oh, shut up! I’m starting to hate this already,” Ranma-chan said in an angry manner. Dr. Tofu came out of his office and approached Ranma-chan. “Hi, Ranma,” said Dr. Tofu. “Say, Ryoga, why don’t you wait here for a while.” “Oh, it’s okay, Doc. I also came to see my wife as well.” Dr. Tofu and Ranma-chan walked into the examination room. Dr. Tofu’s eyes widened as Ranma-chan took her blanket off. “Wow, Ranma,” Dr. Tofu exclaimed. “You’re starting to show! Any movements?” “Not yet. How am I doing so far?” “Hold on a second. Let me get out my ultrasound equipment.” Dr. Tofu had Ranma-chan undress herself from the waist up and asked her to lie down on the examination bed. Dr. Tofu put ultrasound gel on Ranma-chan’s belly and placed the probe on top to see the miniature form of life in Ranma-chan’s body. “All right, the feet and hands look okay,” Dr. Tofu said. “The spine looks fine and so does the head.” “So, that’s my baby,” Ranma-chan whispered in a happy tone as she watched the monitor. “Ranma, listen to this,” Dr. Tofu said as he increased the volume. Ranma-chan smiled and cried the minute she heard the rapid heartbeat. “Is that the baby’s heartbeat?” Ranma-chan asked. “Yes, it is. It’s approximately 140 beats a minute.” Ranma-chan sat up and wiped her tears. “Well, Ranma. It seems to me that you’re doing fine,” Dr. Tofu said as he wiped the gel off Ranma-chan’s belly. Ranma-chan sighed in relief as she dressed herself and wrapped herself with the blanket. “Well, see ya’ next time, Dr. Tofu,” Ranma-chan said as she was about to make her exit. “Ranma, listen to me,” Dr. Tofu said in a serious manner. Ranma-chan stopped and walked back into the examination room. “There’s something important you need to know. Have you told anyone that you’re pregnant?” “Um... we’ll Ryoga’s the only one who knows so far, only ‘cause that jerk was spying on me. But he promised me he wouldn’t tell anyone. Why do you ask?” “Okay, you can’t spread the word on the street about your pregnancy,” Dr. Tofu said. “If you do, you could be a target and so will I. If anyone found out that I’m helping you, I could lose my job. I’m glad you came to me in your girl-form.” “Sure, I’ll be careful. Well, see you later,” Ranma-chan said as he left.

Ranma-chan and Ryoga left the hospital and went to a maternity store. Ranma-chan felt very uncomfortable on almost all the clothing, mainly because the clothes are only meant for women. There was barely anything that he could wear as both a guy and a girl. “Anything suit you?” Ryoga asked. “I don’t know. I haven’t worn anything other than Chinese clothes,” Ranma-chan said. “Hey, Ryoga. Look at this. The T-Shirts and sweatpants seem fine to me. I’ll get those. So, big guy, how much cash do you have on you?” Ryoga gave Ranma-chan a surprised look. “What?! You mean I have to pay for your clothes?!” “Hey, I can’t help it,” Ranma-chan giggled. “I’m a woman. Besides, I’m flat broke.” “All right, I’ll pay for your clothes,” Ryoga groaned.

Chapter Eight
Ranma-chan arrived at Ukyo’s Okonomiyaki Restaurant since he couldn’t go to his home at the Tendo Dojo. “Ryoga? Where are you?” Ranma-chan asked as she looked behind her. “That idiot. He can’t even go to the bathroom without getting lost,” she thought to herself. Ranma-chan took out the spare key Ryoga gave her and walked in. Ukyo wasn’t home, which gave Ranma-chan the opportunity to take a bath and call Akane. Ranma-chan went into the bathroom and stepped into the hot bath. She changed back into Ranma-kun. He dressed himself, walked into the hall and called Akane. “Hey, Akane, it’s me,” he said. “Ranma? Where are you?” asked Akane. “I’m calling you from a pay phone. I won’t be home for dinner. I decided to go on a training mission.” “Huh? Why didn’t you tell me that before? I could’ve gone with you.” “Um... it’s kind of a guy thing,” Ranma-kun said nervously. “You’re acting really weird. Are you sure you’re okay?” Ranma-kun was getting annoyed as Akane was asking him so many questions. He had to cut the call short before Akane gets suspicious. “Yeah, yeah, I’m fine. Look someone else needs to use the phone. I can’t talk anymore. Bye, Akane.” “Ranma, wait! I just -- ” Ranma-kun hung up and went into the kitchen to make a chicken teriyaki dinner, which only took fifteen minutes. It was at the moment Ukyo walked in with a bag of groceries. “Ryoga? Are you there?” she asked. There was no answer. Ukyo saw a light on in the kitchen. “Someone’s in the kitchen,” she thought to herself. Ukyo slowly walked towards the kitchen, not knowing that Ranma-kun would be living in her home for a while. As she looked in the kitchen, she saw, what seemed to be a shadowy figure. Ukyo screamed at the top of her lungs in fear and dropped her bag of groceries. Ranma-kun quickly walked out of the kitchen to see what happened. “Huh? What’s wrong?” Ranma-kun asked. “Ranma, what are you doing here?” Ranma-kun hesitated to answer her question, due to the fact that he wasn’t allowed to tell anyone about his pregnancy. He then came up with an excuse or what would be considered a lie. “Akane and I had a fight, so Ryoga’s letting me stay here for a while. Look, I didn’t mean to -- whoa! Uu-chan, you’re huge,” Ranma-kun said relating to her swollen belly. “Oh, really? Care to explain the beer belly?” Ukyo asked as she pointed at Ranma-kun’s stomach. Ranma-kun had almost forgot about his swollen belly. Again, he put his mind to work for another reasonable excuse. “Um... it’s a guy thing. It’s kind of hard to explain.” “Oh… okay then. So where’s -- what’s cooking on the stove? It smells delicious,” Ukyo said as she put her hands to her belly. “I’m cooking.” “You’re cooking?” Ukyo asked in surprise. “What?” “Chicken teriyaki.”

* * *

Ranma-kun helped Ukyo gather all the groceries she dropped and brought them to the dinner table. The dinner table was filled with the chicken teriyaki Ranma-kun prepared along with pork buns, dim sum, pizza, spaghetti with meatballs, a jar of pickles, and ice cream. It was a banquet fit for two kings. “Ranma, could you pass the spaghetti and meatballs?” Ukyo asked. “Yeah, sure. So, Ukyo, do you know what you’re having?” “No. I don’t think it’s wise to ask that if you’re having your first. Ryoga’s hoping for a boy. As for me, I’d like to have a girl.” “Face it, Uu-chan. Men want boys and women want girls.” “Yeah, that’s true. All I know is, boy or girl, I’ll love him -- her just the same.” “Yeah, I can live with that,” Ranma-kun smiled. “Hey, this dim sum is pretty good! Want some?” he asked as he grabbed the last of the pork buns. “Sure,” she said as she took the dim sum and gobbled it in less than fifteen seconds. Ukyo couldn’t believe the amount of food Ranma-kun was consuming. Ranma-kun had practically raided the table as much as she did. Ukyo found it very amusing and started to laugh. “What...?” Ranma-kun asked with his mouth full. “Did anyone ever tell you that you eat like a pregnant lady?” Ukyo asked. “Really?” Ranma-kun asked as he finished his pork buns. “I’ve never put much thought to the way I eat.” “I mean it. Remember back in high school? Akane, Shampoo, Kodachi and I cooked for you and you had to judge which one tasted best. I thought you were going to drown in some of the dishes,” she laughed as she finished her meal. “Nah, that would never happen to me,” Ranma-kun said as ate the last of the pizza. “Oh, man! I’m stuffed.” “Me too,” Ukyo said as she sat back into her chair. At that moment, Ukyo groaned as she felt a sudden thrust in her belly. Ranma-kun groaned as well. “Oh, the baby just pushed,” Ukyo whispered massaging her belly. “Yeah,” Ranma-kun sighed. Ukyo frowned at Ranma-kun. “What’s with you?” she asked in confusion. “Uh... it’s just sympathy,” Ranma-kun laughed nervously. “Really? I’ve never known you to be so sympathetic,” Ukyo said.

* * *

After their meal, both Ranma-kun and Ukyo went to their rooms and fell asleep. All was quiet, until Midnight. Ranma-kun woke up with a bad case of indigestion. He got out of bed and slowly walked in the hall. “Oh, man! This hurts,” Ranma-kun whispered as he grasped his stomach. “Maybe I shouldn’t have gone to bed after having that huge meal.” Ranma-kun stopped in the hall and sat against the wall. He was breathing heavily and his face was completely covered with sweat. “Now I know how mom felt before she had me,” he panted. Ranma-kun heard the door open from Ukyo’s room. Ukyo slowly stepped into the hall, fell to her knees, and started breathing heavily. “Ukyo? You too?” Ranma-kun asked wiping the sweat from his forehead. Ukyo nodded as she put her hands to her belly and sat against the wall. “Where does it hurt?” he asked. “Right here,” she sighed as she touched an area just below her chest. Ranma-kun slowly crawled over to Ukyo and massaged her belly. “Here?” “Um... right here,” she said as she slided Ranma-kun’s hand upward. “How does that feel?” “A little better. What about you?” Ukyo shoved Ranma-kun against the wall as she gave him a massage. Ranma-kun sighed as he slowly closed his eyes and fell asleep. “Uh... Ranma? Hey, Ranma, come on,” she said shaking him. “I’m not carrying you to bed,” she said in an impatient manner. The front door slammed open as Ryoga tiredly made his way in. “I... made it,” he panted. He gave a puzzled look as he saw Ranma-kun asleep in the hall. “What happened to him?” he asked. “Poor Ranma,” she said stroking Ranma-kun’s hair. “He went out of his way to comfort me from my indigestion. As I was returning the favor, he fell asleep.” “Indigestion? Are you okay?” Ryoga asked in concern. “Yeah, I’ll be okay. Help me get him to bed,” she said as she tried to carry him. “No, honey. Don’t do that. You’ll strain yourself. I’ll carry him.” Ryoga knelt towards Ranma-kun and started shaking him. “Come on, Ranma. I’m taking you back to bed,” Ryoga groaned as he lifted Ranma-kun from the floor. Ranma-kun’s eyes opened halfway. “I want my baby,” Ranma-kun said groggily. Ryoga frowned at Ranma-kun and shook his head. “You are one heavy person, Ranma. What am I going to do with you?” he thought to himself.

Chapter Nine
Three months went by. Ranma-kun and Ryoga were at a party supply store to get some party favors for Ukyo’s Baby Shower. Ryoga was annoyed at the fact that Ranma-kun had to tag along. “I don’t see why I can’t go to the store by myself,” Ryoga said. “I don’t need your help.” “Forget it, Ryoga. It could take you years to find the place,” Ranma-kun joked. Ryoga shook his head and continued shopping for Ukyo. Ranma-kun gathered some balloons and some streamers. Ryoga collected all the items he needed to make the party favors. “Will you be able to pay for all that?” Ranma-kun asked. “What?! I have to pay for all this?!” Ryoga said in an angry manner. “Ding-dong!” Ranma-kun joked as Ryoga paid for all the supplies.

* * *

Ranma-kun and Ryoga went home. Ranma-kun gasped as he felt a slight throb in his belly. “What is it?” Ryoga asked. “Nothin’, I just felt the baby kick,” Ranma-kun sighed as he massaged his stomach. “It feels like bubbles or somethin’.” “Please, you’re making me sick,” Ryoga said in a disgusted manner. “Aw, shut up! You’d feel the same way if you were in my position,” Ranma-kun said. “Why, if it isn’t Ranma Saotome and Monsieur Ryoga Hibiki,” a voice said. “Kuno! What’s up?” Ranma-kun asked in a nervous manner. Kuno approached Ranma-kun as Ryoga unloaded all the supplies from his backpack. “What’s this?” Kuno asked as he stared at Ranma-kun’s belly. “So, I put on some weight, Kuno,” Ranma-kun said. “There’s no need to make such a big deal out of it.” “Yes, but the question is to why you have gained a massive amount of weight?” Kuno asked suspiciously. “Look, if he wants to look like a fat slob, that’s his own personal business,” Ryoga laughed. “Yeah, ‘ha, ha’, Ryoga! Yuck it up, why don’t you,” Ranma-kun thought to himself. “Have it your way, but let me warn you, Ranma Saotome,” Kuno said pointing at Ranma-kun with his wooden sword. “If I hear or see anything unusual from you, then you have not seen the last of Tatewaki Kuno.”

* * *

After Kuno left, Ranma-kun and Ryoga went into the house and put all the supplies into the closet. At that moment, the phone rang. Ryoga ran down the hall and answered the phone. “Hello? “Hi, Ryoga.” It was Akane. “You haven’t seen Ranma, have you? It’s been almost three months and I haven’t heard from him since.” “He’s right here,” Ryoga said. “Hold on a minute. Ryoga walked into the living room bringing the phone with him. Ranma-kun was lying on the sofa. “Ranma, it’s for you.” Ryoga handed the phone to Ranma-kun and went into the kitchen. “Hello?” “Ranma? What happened to you?” Akane asked. “Nothing, I was working hard during my training mission,” Ranma-kun said in a panicked voice. “Are you sure? Ryoga told me that you were hanging out with him the whole time here in Tokyo.” “What? Ryoga told you that?!” “Yeah, he wrote letters to me. It’s about you and everything.” “Everything?!” Ranma-kun then realized that it was possible that Ryoga told Akane his secret. He started to panic and tried to make up an excuse to cut his call short. “Um, Akane, I gotta get going. I, uh... kind of want to go to bed. Talk to you soon. Bye.” “Ranma, wait! I just -- ” Akane’s sentence was interrupted the minute Ranma-kun hung up. Ranma-kun furiously walked straight into the kitchen and confronted Ryoga. “Ryoga, what did you tell Akane?” “Wha--? I didn’t say anything,” Ryoga said. Ranma-kun grew impatient and grabbed Ryoga by his shirt. “Akane would never lie to me. What’s your side to the story?” “Okay, okay. So maybe I wrote to Akane and told her that you were with me. But I didn’t mention anything about you being pregnant.” “You promised me that you wouldn’t say anything to Akane.” “No. I promised you that I wouldn’t tell her about your pregnancy. That was the promise. Besides, this whole thing is your fault. You should’ve gotten the abortion the day you found out you were pregnant. You should’ve ended it then.” Ranma-kun’s eyes grew blurry, due to his tears. “I can’t believe you said that,” he exclaimed. “Ranma, look. I didn’t mean it that way.” “Aw, save it! You’ve said enough already,” Ranma-kun said wiping his tears. “Okay, I’m sorry,” Ryoga said flatly. “No! Say it like you mean it,” Ranma-kun demanded. “All right,” Ryoga sighed. “I’m sorry. I take it back.” Ranma-kun put his hands to his belly as he felt a throbbing sensation. “Ryoga!” “What is it, Ranma?” “I just felt a kick.” Ranma-kun lifted his shirt and did a gesture to Ryoga, indicating him to walk towards him. “Ryoga, feel it,” he said. “Uh... I don’t think so,” Ryoga said as he stepped back. “I’m not up for these kinds of things.” “What?! You mean to tell me that you’re too chicken to go up to Ukyo and feel your own kid move?” Ryoga became furious and tried to land a punch on Ranma-kun. Ranma-kun dodged it and Ryoga fell headfirst into the wall. “Sorry about that, man.” Ryoga slowly got up and put his hand to his forehead. “Oh, that’s smarts,” he said. “Huh? I feel it again,” Ranma-kun sighed as Ryoga stood perfectly still. “Are you going to feel the baby or not?” Ranma-kun asked impatiently holding his shirt up. “I give up,” Ryoga sighed as he walked towards Ranma-kun. “Just wait a while,” Ranma-kun said. Ryoga’s eyes widened as he saw something poke under Ranma-kun’s skin. “Ryoga, did you see that,” Ranma-kun asked in an cheerful manner. “Aww, look at that,” Ryoga said in a peaceful tone. “That must be his little foot right there.” Ryoga placed his hand on Ranma-kun’s belly and laughed whenever the baby kicked or rolled. Not far away, Sasuke, Kuno’s faithful servant was sitting on a tree branch just by the kitchen window and was listening to every word Ranma-kun and Ryoga were saying and recorded it on his tape player. Ukyo walked into the kitchen and couldn’t understand why Ryoga has his hand on Ranma-kun’s enlarged stomach. “Ryoga, honey. What are you doing?” she asked. Ranma-kun shrieked and pulled his shirt down quickly. Ryoga placed his hand on his head and started laughing nervously. “Uh... nothing, Ukyo,” Ryoga said in a nervous tone. “Oh, really?” Ukyo asked. “Then why were you touching him?” Ukyo’s eyes widened in disgust. “No, this can’t be,” Ukyo said as she stepped back. “Oh, my God!” “What the heck’s the matter with you?” Ranma-kun asked. “What are you?” Ukyo asked in a reluctant manner. “Are you -- are you -- what are you guys? Not straight?” “What?! No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,” Ryoga and Ranma-kun said as they approached Ukyo. “Then, what’s going on!? Tell me what’s going on, or else,” Ukyo demanded. “You can tell her,” Ranma-kun whispered. “Uh... heheheh, it’s like this. How would you react if it’s possible for Ranma here to be pregnant?” “Did -- did you say pregnant?! Ukyo asked in a frightened tone. “That’s right, Uu-chan,” Ranma-kun said. “I’m gonna be a parent also.” Ranma-kun lifted his shirt and showed her his belly. Ukyo’s eyes widened as she saw something nudge coming from Ranma-kun’s stomach. “Oh, my God,” Ukyo exclaimed. Her eyelids began to close and her whole body tilted backwards and hit the floor. “My God,” Sasuke exclaimed as he took pictures and gathered all the information he needed. “Ranma is pregnant. I must report this to Master Kuno. Sasuke away,” he said as he jumped off the tree branch and ran away.

Ukyo woke up three hours later and listened to Ranma-kun’s long, complicated story. She nodded and assured him that she wouldn’t tell Akane or the outside world about his pregnancy. “Oh, you poor baby. You’ve really had it rough,” Ukyo said massaging Ranma-kun’s stomach. “But, I have to admit. Having you this way is lot more fun. You really are a jackass, you know,” she giggled. “Very funny,” Ranma-kun said. “Ah, it’s not that bad, Ran-chan. You just have two months left and it’ll be all over.” “That’s what I keep thinking about. What’s going to happen when the time comes?” “Whatever happens, Ryoga and I will be there for you.” “That is... if Ryoga doesn’t get lost,” Ranma-kun said. Ryoga ran up to Ranma-kun and hit him in the head. “I heard that,” he said. “With which set of ears?” Ranma-kun asked. “Stop it, you two! Look, I don’t know about you guys, but right now I’m really tired, and I should be getting my rest. You two should do the same.” “Yeah, it’s getting kind of late,” Ranma-kun yawned. “Good night, Ryoga,” he teased. Ryoga groaned, went into his room and slammed the door.

Sasuke ran into the streets headed for the Kuno residence -- a huge mansion. Sasuke was so anxious to tell Kuno the unusual news about Ranma-kun. “Master Kuno! Master Kuno, where are you?” Sasuke ran into the house looking for Kuno and found him asleep in his room. “Master Kuno, please wake up,” Sasuke said shaking him. Kuno slowly opened his eyes and gave an angry expression. “Who dares to wake me from my slumber?” Kuno asked. “It is I, your faithful Sasuke.” “Speak up, Sasuke,” Kuno demanded as he grabbed Sasuke by his ninja costume. “This had better be good.” Sasuke showed the pictures of Ranma-kun with his shirt lifted up. He then played back the recordings of Ryoga and Ranma-kun’s conversation. “So, that’s it. If Ranma Saotome thinks he can make mockery of me by hiding his pregnancy, methinks he thinks wrongly indeed. Sasuke, I want you to go back and keep watch. Keep in contact with me at all times. If you see that cretinous Ranma Saotome doing anything suspicious, follow him and I will locate you!” Right away, Master Kuno,” Sasuke said and left. Chapter Ten Ryoga started blowing up the balloons and taping them to the walls along with the party stringers in the living room, while Ranma-kun made onion dip for the potato chips and placed the radio on the coffee table. “Hey, man. We’d better move it on the decorations before the guests arrive,” Ranma-kun said. “Yeah, you’re right,” Ryoga said as he lifted the heavy armchair. “Wait a minute, where’s Ukyo? Isn’t she supposed to be here?” “Hello? Is anybody home,” Ranma-kun asked as he knocked on Ryoga’s head. “In case you haven’t noticed, we’re supposed to surprise Ukyo.” “Don’t start, Ranma,” Ryoga said as he placed his present on the armchair. Moments later the doorbell rang and Shampoo was the first guest to arrive at Ukyo’s baby shower. She gave Ryoga a basket full of pork buns and dim sum. “Nihao, Ranma! How little Shampoo today,” she asked as she massaged Ranma’s stomach. “What?! How did you know that I -- ” Ranma-kun paused and gave Ryoga and angry face. “Ryoga!? What did you tell her? Ranma-kun asked impatiently. “You said you wouldn’t -- ” “... tell Akane,” Ryoga finished Ranma-kun’s sentence. “Does this look like Akane to you? I called her just before I went to sleep last night.” “Ranma, why you no tell Shampoo truth?” Shampoo asked. “Uh... it’s kind of a long story,” Ranma-kun said nervously. “No matter. Shampoo knows truth, so no is big deal,” she said. “Well, Shampoo, Ryoga, I’ll be right back. I need to get Ukyo from the mall, so I’ll catch you guys later,” Ranma-kun said as he left. Ten minutes later, Kasumi and Akane showed up. Kasumi handed Ryoga a bowl of Udon. Akane brought some of her home baked cookies. “Oh, my! I hope Ranma’s okay. I haven’t seen him in ages,” Kasumi said. “I’m sure Ranma is just fine,” Akane said dryly. “I wish that we could just drop the whole subject,” Ryoga said laughing nervously. Everything was set and all the guests arrived. Ranma-kun went to the shopping mall and found Ukyo. He asked her to come home. Ukyo agreed and walked home with Ranma-kun. “Uu-chan, before we go in, you have to close your eyes,” Ranma-kun said. “Huh? Why?” Ukyo asked in suspicion. “It’s a surprise,” he said softly. “Okay, sure,” she said as she slowly closed her eyes. Ranma-kun waved his hand in front of her face and there was no reaction. He took her hands and led her upstairs and walked down the hall. “Can I open them now,” Ukyo asked. “No, no, no. Not yet,” Ranma-kun said. “Everyone, she’s here. Get ready,” Ryoga whispered as he turned off the lights. Ranma-kun led Ukyo into the living room and asked her to open her eyes. “Um… isn’t it kind of dark in here?” Ukyo asked. “Why are all the lights out?” Ranma-kun giggled as he turned the lights on. The utter silence was interrupted by the sudden outburst of “surprise” from all the guests. Ukyo couldn’t believe her eyes. “Huh? A baby shower? For me,” Ukyo asked. “That’s right, honey. Ranma and I planned all this for you,” Ryoga said. “Oh, how sweet,” she said as she hugged Ranma and Ryoga. “Hi, Ukyo,” Akane said. “Can I feel the baby?” “Uh… yeah, sure,” Ukyo blushed as she took Akane’s hand and placed it on her belly. “Come on,” Akane said patting Ukyo’s stomach. “Come on, baby. That’s right, come on. Come on, -- ”. The baby’s sudden movements interrupted Akane’s sentence. “Aww, you’re a strong one, aren’t you?” Akane giggled. Ukyo smiled and sighed as the baby moved. “So, Ukyo. Aren’t you going to have a seat,” Ranma-kun asked indicating the armchair. “Thanks, I could use a break from all the walking,” Ukyo said as she walked towards the chair. “Thanks, you guys. This is really great.” “Yeah, no problem, Uu-chan. Now sit,” Ranma-kun demanded as he pushed her into the chair. “Ran-chan, you need a break too, you know,” Ukyo whispered as she pulled up a seat next to her. Ranma-kun sat beside her and stroked her long brown hair. Ukyo took out her gift box and gave it to Ranma-kun. “Ran-chan, this is for you,” she whispered. “Huh? What for?” Ranma-kun asked in confusion. “This should be your baby shower too, you know,” she said as she winked at Ranma-kun. He laughed and opened the present. Ranma-kun gasped as he lifted the little Chinese outfit, identical to his. “Aww, look at this,” he said in a kind-hearted manner. He took the little outfit and placed it on his stomach. “I don’t think it fits yet,” he laughed. “Oh, well. He -- she will grow into it,” Ukyo said. Ukyo changed the subject, hoping that she could talk some sense into Ranma-kun. “You know you’re going to have to tell her eventually,” Ukyo said pointing to Akane. “What are you going to do once the baby’s born. You can’t keep hiding from Akane forever, you know?” Ranma-kun looked down at his stomach and said, “I know. It’s just that…” “It’s just what?” Ukyo asked. “Nothing,” Ranma-kun sighed. “You’re right. I’ve been hiding from her for the past three months. I can’t keep this up forever. I’ve got to go and talk to her,” Ranma-kun said as he slowly got out of his chair. “Whoa! Easy, Ran-chan,” Ukyo said in concern. “You don’t want to strain your back.” Ranma-kun walked up to Akane and asked her if she could step outside, so they could have a private conversation. Sasuke followed them and told Kuno where he was on the walkie-talkie.

Ranma-kun and Akane went to the park and sat on the swings, just like they did when they were in high school. Sasuke was hiding in the bushes along with Kuno. “Akane, I really need to talk to you,” Ranma-kun said reluctantly. “Oh, really? More like an apology?” Akane asked in an upset manner. Ranma-kun couldn’t hold it in him any longer. “I’m pregnant,” he sighed. “Good explanation,” Akane said in disbelief. “Akane, you’re not listening to me! I’m really pregnant.” “What?” “Remember, when Ryoga spent the night in the dojo?” Akane nodded. “The next morning, I went for a walk and I was bitten by a dog, I thought was rabid. I went to Dr. Tofu to get a shot. It turns out that he was expecting another patient after me, who was going to be artificially inseminated. Anyway, Kasumi came over to return the book she borrowed from him and he went crazy, accidentally gave me the wrong needle. I’m now seven months pregnant.” Akane touched Ranma-kun’s stomach for less than a second. “Oh, my God,” she exclaimed as she stepped back. “I didn’t mean to hide this from you,” Ranma-kun said. “It’s just that -- ”. “You still did it, didn’t you!?” Akane interrupted. “You lied to me and you sneaked out on me. “I’m sorry, it’s just that I -- ”. “How do you want me to feel? Happy for you? You – you – YOU PERVERT!” “Hey, hey, hey! I told you I was sorry! But why should I apologize to an uncute girl like you anyway?” Akane gasped and growled at Ranma-kun. “Well, excuse me for being UNCUTE!!!” she yelled as she kicked him in the leg. Ranma-kun screamed in pain. Sasuke and Kuno jumped out of the bushes and approached Ranma. “Let me shake hands with the man who would be mom,” Kuno said. “What are you talking about?” Ranma-kun asked in an angry tone. “Who would of known that Ranma Saotome would be willing to give up his manhood? “Leave me alone, Kuno,” Ranma-kun demanded. “I’m afraid I can’t do that. You see, you’re government property now.” “Kuno, he said he wants to be left alone,” Akane said. “Akane Tendo. Say that you will marry me and I will keep Ranma’s little secret,” Kuno said. Akane frowned at Kuno, raised her fist and landed a punch on Kuno’s face, knocking him unconscious. Ranma-kun knelt towards Kuno and shook his head. “If it’s my body, it’s my choice,” Ranma-kun exclaimed and quickly walked away. “Master Kuno. Never fear! Sasuke is -- ”. Sasuke’s sentence was interrupted when Akane kicked him in the stomach, leaving him helpless. “Oh, shut up already,” Akane said as she ran after Ranma-kun. Kuno blinked and slowly got up and ordered Sasuke to run after them. Sasuke could barely move and had to stay put. Kuno groaned and ran after Akane and Ranma-kun.

Ranma-kun walked past the shopping area and hid in an alley. Luckily, he found a water hose and sprayed himself with the cold water, changing him from Ranma-kun to Ranma-chan. Akane ran all over the shopping mall, looking for Ranma-kun. Kuno was running right behind her. “Ranma Saotome, you cretin! You will not escape the wrath of Tatewaki Kuno!” he said. Akane ran into the alley and found Ranma-chan slowly. “Ranma, are you okay?” Akane asked. “Yeah, barely. Let’s get out of here!” Sasuke managed to run all the way into the shopping mall and meet up with Kuno. “Master Kuno, I’ve failed you,” he said looking down. “Do not be so disappointed, Sasuke,” Kuno said in a calm manner. “Ranma Saotome can’t run forever. The day will come when he goes into labor and that will be the time to strike.” Chapter Eleven Akane and Ranma-chan walked all the way back to the Tendo Dojo. Akane was completely covered in sweat from all the running she did. “Ranma, until the baby is born, you’re to stay in your girl form,” Akane said. “If Kuno finds you running around as a guy, he’ll have the media, not to mention the police after you. Akane paused for a second and realized why Ranma-chan kept her pregnancy a secret. “You hid this because you thought I would become a target. Is that it?” Akane asked. Ranma-chan nodded. “I also thought you would look at me as though as I was some kind of pervert,” she said. “You know the fact of being a mom.” Akane frowned at Ranma-chan and exclaimed, “Wait a minute! Let’s get something straight here. You are a guy. Not a girl. Not a girl in a guy’s body, but a guy! Don’t ever forget that!” “I won’t,” Ranma-chan said in panicked manner. Ukyo walked in at a quick pace towards Ranma-chan. “Ran-chan, are you okay?” she asked. Ranma-chan nodded. “Now I’ve gotta run around in my girl-type until the baby’s born,” Ranma-chan said. “Hey, it’s not all that bad,” Ukyo smiled. “It’s only for two months. Might as well make the best of it. Anyway, have you taken any childbirth classes yet.” “Huh? Childbirth classes? Why should I?” It’s just a bunch of breathing.” “Are you sure about that?” Ukyo asked. “Dr. Takahashi said that it would help me a lot. It should help you too. I also came over to give you these.” Ukyo handed Ranma-chan a box of maternity dresses that didn’t fit her. Ranma-chan looked at the dresses in disgrace. “Okay, I’ll wear them,” Ranma-chan sighed in a sad tone. “First, try them on,” Ukyo said. “Okay,” Ranma-chan said as she slowly walked upstairs.

* * *

Akane and Ukyo wondered why it was taking so long for Ranma-chan to try on the dresses. “Honestly. Why is Ranma taking so long?” Akane asked. Suddenly, Ranma-chan started crying loudly. Ukyo and Akane went upstairs into her room only to find her sitting on floor, wiping her tears with the dress. “Ran-chan, what’s the matter,” Ukyo asked. “I can’t go out in public like this,” Ranma-chan sniffled. “Every skirt and dress I own makes me look fat!” “Well, hey. They don’t look that good on me either,” Ukyo said. “Well, that’s easy for you to say, Uu-chan! At least your clothes fit you where they’re supposed to! Just look at me! I’m a joke! The whole world will be laughing at me!” “I’m sure you’ll be just fine,” Akane said in a dull tone.

During the weeks, Ranma-chan spent her living her life as a girl, being forced to wear maternity dresses and act in a feminine manner. She went with Ukyo to attend childbirth classes, doctor’s appointments, baby and child care, looking at baby names together, and well as shopping for clothes and supplies for their babies. When the evening came, Ranma-chan walked Ukyo home. They were both exhausted from all the shopping and walking. “That was great, wasn’t it?” Ukyo asked. “Yeah, I’m starting to enjoy this,” Ranma-chan giggled. “I know I’ve made a lot of strange decisions before, but I have to admit. I’m really glad I’m having this baby.” “That makes two of us,” Ukyo groaned as she put her hands to her back. “Whoa, Uu-chan. You don’t want to strain you’re back,” Ranma-chan said. “Aww, you’re throwing my own words back at me,” she sighed. “But, you’re right. Good night, Ran-chan,” she said as she hugged Ranma-chan. Ukyo knelt on the ground and put her hands to Ranma-chan belly. “Good night, Ranma junior,” she giggled and kissed Ranma-chan’s stomach.

Ranma-chan returned to the Tendo Dojo to be greeted by Akane. “Oh, good you’re home,” Akane said. “I have a surprise for you.” Akane asked Ranma-chan to close her eyes while she grabbed her arm and brought her into the nursery she created. “Okay, Ranma,” Akane giggled. “Open your eyes.” Ranma-chan’s eyes snapped open and stared blankly at the crib on the left corner, the white rocking chair in the center of the room, and the dresser with two packages of diapers. “I don’t know what to say,” Ranma-chan said as tears of joy filled her eyes. “You did all of this for me?” “It was the least I could do. Ukyo was helping you with everything else, so I figured I should do you a favor as well.” “Thanks, Akane,” Ranma-chan said and hugged Akane. “You have no idea how much this means to me.” Akane giggled, “Think nothing of it.” She gasped as felt something push against her stomach. “What was that? I just felt something nudge me.” “What...? The baby kicking?” Ranma-chan giggled. “Oh, wow,” she said excitedly as she touched Ranma-chan’s stomach. “And I thought Ukyo’s baby was strong. Your baby really packs a punch,” Akane giggled. “Yeah, don’t I know it,” Ranma-chan said as she put her hands to her lower back. “I think you two need to get some sleep,” Akane said. “Yeah, we’ve both had a long day,” Ranma-chan said as she massaged her stomach. “Good night, Akane.” Ranma-chan went to her room and fell asleep.

Chapter Twelve
Ranma-chan was sick of running around in her girl form. She painfully rose from her bed and went to the bathroom. She took a hot shower, which changed her from Ranma-chan to Ranma-kun. Ranma-kun got on the phone and called the Cat Café. Shampoo answered the phone and Ranma-kun placed an order of dim-sum, pork buns, and ramen. Shampoo immediately went to work in the kitchen, the minute she got off the phone. When she was done, Shampoo put the food in take-out boxes, placed them on her bicycle and rode off to the Tendo Dojo. Ranma-kun went into the training room and was lying flat on the floor, with his knees bent, placed his hands on his belly, and started practicing his breathing exercises. Akane came in to work out only to find Ranma-kun lying on the floor. “What are you doing in your guy form?” Akane asked. “Oh, nevermind. If Kuno finds you and tries to take you away, then don’t come crying to me.” “Aw, save it,” Ranma-kun said as he continued his breathing exercises. “Do you want me to coach you?” “Naw, it’s okay,” Ranma-kun yawned. “You haven’t been getting enough sleep, have you?” Ranma-kun slowly sat up and covered his mouth. “Are you kidding? You know how hard it is to sleep when you have something the size of a watermelon in your body?” he giggled. “No kidding. I can’t stand guys with swollen bellies.” “Yeah, well I can’t stand tomboys, so there!” Ranma-kun said rudely. “Excuse me!? Who are you calling a tomboy? You pervert!” Akane exclaimed as she slapped Ranma-kun in the face. Suddenly the front door slid open. “Hello? Is anybody home? It’s me -- Ukyo!” “Ukyo,” Ranma-kun exclaimed as he quickly walked to the front door. Akane followed. “Hey, Ran-chan. You forgot this,” Ukyo said as she gave him a little Chinese outfit. “You left this at the baby shower, remember?” “Thanks. I thought I misplaced it,” Ranma-kun said. “Oh, Ranma. It’s so cute,” Akane said as she held the little outfit. “It looks just like yours.” Akane screamed in fright when the wall smashed open. Through the opening of the wall was Shampoo on her bicycle. “Nihao!” “Hey, Shampoo! Don’t you know what a door is!?” Akane asked in an angry mood. “Door take too long,” Shampoo giggled. “Ranma! Shampoo bring delivery!” Shampoo unwrapped the dim sum, the pork buns, and the bowl of ramen and gave them to Ranma-kun. “Whoa! This is great!” Ranma-kun exclaimed as he paid Shampoo. “Oh! Shampoo almost forget.” She reached in her bicycle basket and gave Ranma-kun a present. “Is present for baby. Shampoo forget to give you, day of baby shower.” Akane got angry and confronted Ranma-kun. “RANMA!!! You mean to tell me that Shampoo knew that you were pregnant the whole time?!” Ranma-kun jumped and stepped back waving his hands in front. “Uh... Akane. Let me explain. It was Ryoga who told her, not me.” “How dare you blame this on someone else,” Akane yelled as she walked towards Ranma-kun. “Why do you always have to think the worst of me? Why do you -- ” Ranma-kun grasped his stomach and started groaning. “Ranma, what is it?” Akane asked. “I’m in... pain,” Ranma-kun said. “What? Ranma, are you okay?” Akane asked in a panicked manner. “It’s so painful! So painful,” he exclaimed as he stood there. “Ranma! Oh, no! Please tell me... that you’re okay,” Akane said. “Sucker,” Ranma-kun exclaimed as he stuck his tongue at her. Akane growled and started landing punches on him. Ranma-kun laughed as he dodged the punches. “That not funny, Ranma,” Shampoo said. “Yeah, you really had us worried,” Ukyo said. “Oh, yeah, like I’d really overreact like that,” Ranma-kun laughed. Ranma-kun gasped when he felt a deep sharp pain in his stomach. He put his hands to his belly and fell to his knees. “I’m in labor! Oh, my God! I’m in labor,” he exclaimed. “Yeah, ha-ha, Ranma,” Akane said. “I’m not falling for that again.” Ranma-kun screamed as the pain started to make it’s way into his body. “I mean it this time! I’m in labor! Really!” “You want have match, Akane,” Shampoo asked as she was headed towards the training room. “Sounds like a good idea,” Akane grinned. “Guys! I’m not joking! It’s real,” Ranma-kun pleaded. Ukyo, knowing Ranma-kun since she was little, assumed that this time he was telling the truth. She walked up to Ranma-kun and placed her hands on his stomach. She slid her hands downward. Ukyo gasped at the fact that he was dilated and the baby was in breech position. “Shampoo! Akane! He’s right,” Ukyo exclaimed. “He is in labor!” Akane and Shampoo ran back to the front door. Akane knelt towards Ranma-kun. Akane’s eyes widened as she saw a huge spot of blood on the floor. “Oh, my God! We’ve gotta get him to the hospital,” Akane exclaimed. “Hold on! It gets worse,” Ukyo continued. “The baby is in breech position.” “Hi-yah! What we do?” Shampoo asked. “Shampoo, you call for a cab, while I call Dr. Tofu,” Akane said. “No can call cab. Unless you want driver know Ranma secret. Shampoo have better idea.” Shampoo ran to the garden, grabbed a wagon, and connected it to her bicycle, while Akane ran to the phone and called Dr. Tofu. “Dr. Tofu. I would like to set up an emergency c-section for Ranma, but we need everyone out of the building except you and Dr. Takahashi.” “You want to set up and emergency c-section with just the two of us?” Dr. Tofu asked. “You can’t have an emergency c-section without an anesthesiologist.” Sasuke was hiding behind a plant and listened to every word Dr. Tofu was saying. “Dr. Tofu. I know you can handle it. I’ll be in touch,” Akane said and hung up. Sasuke took out his walkie-talkie and reported the information to Kuno. “Master Kuno! I have exciting news,” Sasuke explained. “Ranma is on his way to the hospital to have his baby.” Kuno grinned and praised Sasuke for a job well done. “Stay right where you are Sasuke! I’ll be there within a few minutes,” Kuno exclaimed. Dr. Tofu frowned as he heard a twig snap from the plant outside his office. He quietly got out of his chair and sneaked out into the hallway. Dr. Tofu slowly approached the plant and overheard Sasuke’s chat with Kuno. He quickly picked up the plant and caught Sasuke. “Hey, what do you think you’re doing?” Dr. Tofu asked. Sasuke shrieked and laughed nervously. “Um... I was just -- bye,” Sasuke exclaimed as he ran out of the building.

Ukyo used Akane’s cellular phone and called Ryoga back at her house. “Ryoga, it’s me, Ukyo! Ranma just went into labor and we’re on our way to take him to Nerima Medical Center.” The bicycle and wagon were set. “Shampoo take Ranma to hospital. Is okay?” Shampoo asked. Akane and Shampoo carried Ranma-kun into the wagon and they both argued about the secrecy of Ranma-kun’s pregnancy. “Ranma no need pervert girl,” Shampoo exclaimed. “What are you talking about?” Akane asked in an angry manner. “I’m involved in this, too, you know.” “You unhappy because Shampoo know secret before you.” “I could care less about what you two have to share with each other.” Ranma-kun grew impatient as the two girls continued to argue. “WILL ALL OF YOU JUST SHUT-UP,” Ranma-kun yelled. “Come on, you guys,” Ukyo said as she sat in the wagon with Ranma. “Argue about this later. Ranma’s in trouble here.” “Yeah, no kidding,” Ranma-kun panted and screamed. “I feel like I’m going to split apart or something!” Shampoo grunted as she tried to ride her bicycle while pulling the wagon. “What’s wrong, Shampoo?” Ukyo asked. “Is too heavy,” Shampoo grunted. “Shampoo no can give ride.” “Hold on a minute. I’ll be right back,” Akane said. Akane ran into the garden to get her bicycle and connect it to the wagon. “Shampoo, you know what they say. Two heads are better than one.” Akane and Shampoo grunted as they slowly pulled the wagon with their bicycles. “And a one, and a two,” Akane grunted as she was pedaling. “And a one, and a two -- Shampoo, put some back into it!” “Hi-yah! Is so heavy,” Shampoo grunted. Akane and Shampoo managed to pull the wagon out of the Tendo Dojo and onto the streets. “How far apart are the contractions?” Akane asked. “I don’t know! I DON’T KNOW,” Ranma-kun screamed and grasped his stomach. “Oh, God, I wanna die!” “Come on, Ranma! Breathe,” Ukyo exclaimed as she breathed for him. “Stop blowing at me,” Ranma-kun yelled. “Okay, I’m sorry,” she said as she breathed in the opposite direction. Akane’s cellular phone rang. Akane stopped pedaling and answered. “He-hello?” “Akane, we have a problem.” It was Dr. Tofu. “There was someone spying on me and overheard my conversation about the emergency c-section.” “What? Someone heard our conversation? How did the person look like?” Akane asked in an alarmed manner. Shampoo and Ukyo pressed their ears towards the phone. “He was short, he wore a black ninja costume, and has buck teeth. He mentioned the name, ‘Master -- ” “KUNO,” exclaimed the three girls as they finished his sentence. “Oh, no! Kuno’s after Ranma,” Akane exclaimed. “It gets worse. There’s a whole bunch of media out front.” “What? Oh, no,” Akane said. “Can you meet us outside?” “Will do. What are you going to do?” “We’ll think of something. Bye.” “Oh, great! “Kuno tipped the press,” Ukyo said. “What we do?” Shampoo asked.

Chapter Thirteen
The news media and the press were gathered outside of Nerima Medical Center. Dr. Tofu and Dr. Takahashi were outside waiting for the arrival of Ranma-kun. Kuno picked up a bullhorn and talked enthusiastically. “Ladies and gentlemen. For those of you who don’t know me, I was known as the president of the Kendo Club and the Blue Thunder of Furinkan High,” Kuno said. “It is I, Tatewaki Kuno. I’m here to make an important announcement for the greatest breakthrough scientific research. Ranma Saotome, a past student from Furinkan High, will be arriving shortly, to give birth to a child that he himself has carried to term.” Kuno grinned as the news media and press gasped in excitement. From a distance, Akane and Shampoo arrived honking their bicycle horns at the crowd. “And now, I give you the world’s first pregnant man,” Kuno said. The crowd applauded. “Will everyone get out of our way,” Akane demanded. “We have a medical emergency here!” Akane and Shampoo got off their bicycles and headed towards the wagon. The news media zoomed their video cameras in as Akane and Shampoo carried their patient out of the wagon. “Hi, mom,” Ranma-chan exclaimed as she waved at the cameras. The crowd jeered and gave Kuno unpleasant faces. Ranma-chan strained herself with every step she took grasping her stomach. “What is this!?” the news media anchorman asked. “It’s just a woman,” a reporter said. “No is just womans, stupid,” Shampoo said. “Is Shampoo cousin.” “Hang on! I’m coming too,” Ukyo said as she stepped out of the wagon. Kuno ran up to Ranma-chan and squeezed her stomach. “Oh, my pregnant pig-tailed girl,” Kuno exclaimed in joy. Ranma-chan became annoyed and started beating up on Kuno. “You stupid jerk! My kid will probably be brain damaged because of you!” Ranma-chan screamed and grabbed her stomach as the labor pains got stronger. Ranma-chan continued her breathing as Dr. Tofu and Dr. Takahashi placed her in the wheelchair and wheeled her inside. The reporter grew angry and confronted Kuno. “You said that there was a pregnant man,” he said. “There is a pregnant man,” Kuno said in an embarrased tone as he stepped back. “Pig-tailed girl! I’m coming to help you,” Kuno said as he ran towards the building. Shampoo blocked the doorway. “Kuno! I defeat you now,” Shampoo said as she stood in a karate stance. “Very well, my fiery one. Beauty itself doth persuade,” Kuno said as he took out his wooden sword and battled with Shampoo.

Ranma-chan was wheeled into the elevator. Akane and Ukyo followed. They reached the eighth floor and quickly wheeled Ranma-chan down the hall. “Ranma, imagine that your on an island with all these great cuisines in front of you,” Akane said. “Forget the cuisines,” Ranma-chan panted and screamed. Dr. Tofu grabbed the tea kettle and poured the hot water on Ranma-chan changing her into Ranma-kun. Dr. Takahashi’s eyes widened as he stared at the person seated in the wheelchair. “Hey, what the... !?” he exclaimed. “Dr. Takahashi, meet my patient, Ranma Saotome,” Dr. Tofu said. “What? What’s the matter with him?” Dr. Takahashi asked in confusion. “His baby is in breech position. I changed him back into a guy because I don’t want to chance the operation while he’s in his girl form.” “His baby?!” Dr. Takahashi turned to Ukyo and asked, “His baby?! “Yes,” Ukyo nodded. “Oh, God,” Dr. Takahashi said in disgust as he covered his mouth. Akane, Ukyo, and the two doctors wheeled him into the operating room and began to undress him. “Dr. Tofu, is there anything we can do? Please, let me help you,” Akane said in a panicked tone. “Akane, listen to me,” Dr. Tofu said in a calm manner. “This is dangerous for both Ranma and the baby. I don’t know what’s going to happen and there’s nothing you can do. I want you and Ukyo to go into the waiting room, okay.” “All right,” Akane said catching her breath. Dr. Tofu slowly closed the doors as both Akane and Ukyo exited the operating room and sat in the waiting room. “I just hope everything will be okay,” Akane said nervously. Ukyo pulled Akane’s head on her lap and stroked her hair. “I’m sure Ranma will be just fine. Just think that he’s going to have a beautiful bab -- ow!” Ukyo grasped her stomach and started groaning. Akane quickly sat up. “What?” Akane asked. “Uh-oh,” Ukyo said. “Oh, no! Not you, too,” Akane said in a panicked manner. Ukyo nodded. “Not now! No!” Akane got up and walked towards the doors to the operating room. “Look, I’ll get Dr. Tofu!” “No, no. I want Ryoga! I want Ryoga,” Ukyo said and groaned. “Easy, easy,” Akane said as she walked back to Ukyo. “Um... let’s imagine that we’re on an island with all these great cuisines in front of you, and people laughing and playing and -- ”. Ukyo became annoyed and covered Akane’s mouth. “Let’s imagine drugs,” Ukyo said as she grasped her stomach and groaned. “What would you want me to do?” “Have the baby for me,” Ukyo sighed. “Shhhhh, I know,” Akane said softly and started breathing with Ukyo.

In the operating room, Ranma-kun was lying flat on the operating table. Dr. Tofu took a blotter and rubbed it on Ranma-kun’s stomach. “Ranma, do you feel that,” Dr. Tofu asked. “No, nothing. The pain’s gone,” Ranma-kun said softly. “We gave you an epidural,” Dr. Tofu said. “We decided that it’s best for you to be awake through this.” Ranma-kun sighed and looked up at the ceiling. “Relax. Think about the baby,” Dr. Takahashi said as he stroked Ranma-kun’s hair. “I’m going to cut right here,” Dr. Tofu indicated as he pointed the blotter on the lower part of Ranma-kun’s stomach.

In the waiting room, Akane continued to comfort Ukyo, who was lying on the floor. She took a cloth and wiped the sweat from Ukyo’s forehead. “Ukyo, I’ll be right back,” Akane said as she walked towards the doors again. “I just want to check and see what’s going on. I’m not going to leave you.” Ukyo continued to groan as the labor pains got stronger. “Oh, this is hard,” she sighed. Ukyo started to worry when she couldn’t see Akane. “Akane, where are you?” Akane shrieked and waved her arms. “I’m here! I’m here!” Akane walked back to Ukyo and knelt beside her. “Do you suppose everything’s okay,” Akane asked. “Don’t worry, I’m sure he’s just -- uhh!” Ukyo grasped her stomach and frowned as she felt a wet feeling between her legs. “Are you okay?” Akane asked in alarm. “I -- I think my water just broke,” Ukyo panted. Akane’s eyes widened as she saw a tremendous amount of fluid on the floor underneath Ukyo’s legs. “Ukyo, you’re leaking! I need to get the doctor,” Akane said as she got up. Ukyo pulled her back to the floor. “No, let’s wait for Ryoga,” Ukyo said.

Outside the building, Shampoo defeated Kuno and he fell on the ground head first. The news media stared down at the unconscious Kuno and started to gang up on Shampoo. “What I do?” she thought to herself. “Shampoo no can fight all of them.” Suddenly a man appeared out of nowhere, did a forward flip, and landed next to Shampoo. He had long dark hair and wore glasses with thick lenses. “Mousse,” Shampoo said. “Here I am, sweetheart,” he exclaimed. “Your loverboy! Your knight in shining armor! The father of your -- aah!” Shampoo became annoyed and hit Mousse. “Enough stupid talking, Mousse,” Shampoo said. “Shampoo need help!” Both Shampoo and Mousse battled against the huge crowd. Sasuke ran towards the building only to find Kuno lying on the ground. “Master Kuno! Who did this to you?” Sasuke asked. He looked around and saw Shampoo and Mousse guarding the doors. “Never fear! Sasuke is here,” he said s charged at Shampoo and Mousse. “Hi-yah! What we do?” “I’ll protect you, Shampoo,” Mousse exclaimed as he ran towards the lurking Sasuke. “Fist of the White Swan!”

Back in the operating room, Dr. Tofu took a scalpel and began to make an incision on the lower part of Ranma-kun’s stomach. “Okay, doctor, I need the sponge,” Dr. Tofu said. Dr. Takahashi handed him the sponge and continued to comfort Ranma-kun. Ranma-kun was sweating heavily and started shaking. “I see the baby,” Dr. Tofu said. “It’s entangled in the umbilical cord.” Dr. Tofu took a pair of boiled scissors and cut the cord from the baby’s neck. He slowly lifted the baby and tapped it’s foot. Within seconds, the baby started to cry. Both of doctors took their masks off and smiled. Ranma-kun’s eyes were filled with tears of joy. “That’s your baby, Ranma,” Dr. Tofu said.

In the waiting room, the window from the fire escape opened and a completely exhausted Ryoga came in. “I... made... it,” he panted. Ryoga ran to Ukyo the minute he saw her lying on the floor. “Akane, what’s wrong,” he asked as he panted. “Ukyo’s in labor,” Akane said as she laughed weakly. “What?! Ukyo? Ukyo, talk to me,” Ryoga said as he lifted Ukyo. “The baby’s coming, honey,” Ukyo panted. “So soon?” Ukyo nodded and grasped her stomach as the pain grew more intense. “Why didn’t you tell the doctors?” Ryoga asked. “I wanted you,” Ukyo said. Ryoga took off his bandanna and wiped the sweat off Ukyo’s forehead. “Oh, you got me and I’m not leaving you.” Suddenly the doors to the operating room slammed open. “It’s a girl,” shouted Dr. Tofu. Six pounds, eighteen ounces. Both father and daughter are doing just fine.” “Ranma had a girl,” Akane said looking at the floor. “Akane, what’s wrong?” Dr. Tofu asked. “We have another delivery,” she said pointing at Ukyo. “Dr. Takahashi, I need the wheelchair,” he shouted. Dr. Takahashi ran into the waiting room to find Ukyo on the floor screaming. “Oh, my God,” Dr. Takahashi said and ran to get the wheelchair. “Oh, Ryoga. It’s hurts,” Ukyo said. “Don’t worry, it won’t be long now,” Ryoga said. “By the way, why are there a bunch of people outside?” Dr. Takahashi arrived with the wheelchair and helped Dr. Tofu place Ukyo in it. “Kuno tipped the press about Ranma coming in to get an emergency c-section,” Ukyo said. “I went into the alley found a water hose lying there, and changed him into a GIRL!” Ukyo screamed as she sat in the wheelchair. “Ukyo, do you want a natural childbirth,” Ryoga asked. “No, I want drugs, Ryoga! I WANT DRUGS!!!” Ukyo continued screaming as they wheeled her into the delivery room.

Akane went into the hall until she found Ranma-kun’s room. She walked in quietly and found him in bed holding the little bundle of joy in his arms. “Hey, Akane,” Ranma-kun said softly. “Well, I did it.” Akane smiled as she looked at the baby’s piercing brown eyes. “Oh, Ranma. She’s so cute,” Akane said. Ranma-kun wasn’t convinced that his baby is a girl. He grabbed a tea kettle from the nightstand and poured the water on the baby. The baby screamed as Ranma-kun poured the hot substance on her body. Akane slapped Ranma-kun in the face. “Ranma. What was that for?” Akane asked. “She -- she didn’t change into a boy,” Ranma-kun said. “What did you expect? Oh, nevermind.” “So, she really is a girl,” Ranma-kun said. “There’s no sudden changes and luckily she wasn’t burned.” “Ranma-kun’s maternal instincts took over as he held his daughter up close. “Hey, cutie,” Ranma-kun said kissing his little one. “I’m your dad.” Ranma-kun looked at Akane and gave her a tranquil smile. “Here, you take her,” Ranma-kun said as he handed his baby to Akane. Akane nestled Ranma’s daughter and hugged her. “See? That’s your daddy,” she said to the baby. “And I’m your -- ”. Akane looked at Ranma-kun with a melancholy look on her face. “Oh, Ranma. We’ve been through so much together. What do say about setting a wedding date as soon as you get out of the hospital?” Ranma-kun’s eyes were filled with tears. “Akane... I -- I accept,” Ranma-kun said wiping the tears from his face. Akane sat beside Ranma-kun and they both kissed. Akane started to cry as she looked at Ranma-kun’s daughter. “I’m your mom,” she said through her tears. “You’re my little girl.”

Meanwhile in the delivery room, Ukyo’s face was completely covered with sweat. Her baby was almost out of her body. “Come on, Ukyo,” Dr. Tofu said. “One more push.” Ukyo screamed as she gave the last push and fell back on her bed gasping. Ukyo laughed and her face was filled with tears of joy the minute she heard the baby cry. “It’s a boy,” Ryoga said in excitement. “Is he okay?” Ukyo panted. “Oh, yes. Ten fingers and ten toes,” Dr. Takahashi said. Dr. Tofu lifted the baby and placed him on top of Ukyo’s chest. “Hello, little beauty,” Ukyo whispered. “I’m your mama.” Ukyo’s eyes closed and her head sank into the pillow. “Ukyo, are you okay,” Ryoga asked in concern. Ryoga started shaking her. “Ukyo, speak to me.” “She’ll be fine. She just needs to rest,” Dr. Tofu said. “Take a look at your son.” Dr. Tofu lifted Ukyo’s son from her body and gave him to Ryoga. “Hey, little guy,” Ryoga said wiping the tears from his face. “I’m your daddy.” Dr. Tofu came in with a sponge and a bowl of cold water, only to bump into the equipment table. The bowl of water splashed onto Ryoga’s son changing him into a little black piglet. “Doc, get the hot water and fast,” Ryoga exclaimed angrily. Dr. Tofu ran to the nearest bathroom and poured hot water into the bowl. He ran back into the delivery room and splashed the hot water onto the little piglet changing him back into a newborn. “Well, you know what they say. Like father, like son,” Dr. Tofu joked. “That’s not funny,” Ryoga said in a dull tone.

Outside of Nerima Medical Center, one of the reporters had Shampoo completely cornered. There was nowhere left for her to go. She was trapped. “Shampoo in trouble,” she thought to herself. Mousse came to the rescue and used his “Fist of the White Swan” technique and rendered the reporter unconscious. Shortly two police officers arrived and slapped the cuffs on Kuno and Sasuke. “All right, everyone! Show’s over! Let’s go,” said one of the police officers. “You two are under arrest for invasion of privacy, destruction of property, and domestic violence towards women,” the other police officer said as he dragged them into the police car and drove off. “Oh, Mousse! You save Shampoo,” she said as she hugged him and kissed him. “What say we get married?” “Re-re-really, Shampoo?” Mousse asked as he laughed nervously. “Sure,” Shampoo laughed.

Back in Ranma-kun’s room, Akane placed the baby in the cradle and rocked her to sleep. Akane walked towards Ranma-kun, sat on the side of his bed, and stroked his hair. “What are you going to name her,” Akane asked. “Nodoka,” Ranma-kun smiled. “Nodoka? That’s your mother’s name,” Akane said. “I know,” Ranma-kun sighed. “My father took me away from my mom when I was really young. Everytime, she came over to visit, it was simply ‘Auntie Saotome!’ ‘Auntie Saotome!’ I never got to see my mom as-my-mom, not to mention, my daughter looks so much like her.” Akane smiled and fell asleep on Ranma-kun’s lap.

Chapter Fifteen
One year has passed since Ranma-kun’s and Ukyo’s children were born. It was a beautiful day in Nerima. In the backyard of the Tendo Dojo was a picnic gathering. Ranma-kun, Akane, Ryoga, and Ukyo were sitting on the grass celebrating Nodoka’s and Yuji’s first birthdays. Nodoka placed her hand on the cake and started licking the frosting. “Uh-uh-uh, Nodoka,” Ranma-kun said as he pulled her away from the cake. “You’re supposed to wait ‘til we serve the cake before you eat it,” he chuckled as he took a dish rag and wiped the frosting off her hands. “Guys, hold on! I’ll be right back,” Akane said covering her mouth, as she ran towards the bathroom and threw up. “Daddy, I want cake,” Yuji demanded pulling Ryoga’s bandanna. “Hold on there, young man,” Ryoga said. “Yuji, what did mommy tell you?” Ukyo asked. “That’s not the way to get what you want.” Akane slowly walked back into the garden with the plates and spoons. “Hey, Akane, let me help you out with that,” Ranma-kun said as he ran towards Akane. “No, it’s okay. I’ve got it,” Akane said. “How do you feel,” Ukyo asked. “Oh, God! I hate morning sickness,” Akane complained. “Oh, I know how that feels,” Ukyo said. “Yeah, me too,” Ranma-kun said. Akane sighed as she cut the cake and placed them on the plates. “You know, Ukyo? You’ve got to have another kid. Yuji needs a little brother or a little sister.” “Yeah, I know, but I don’t know if I can go through that again,” Ukyo sighed as she ate her slice of cake. “Well, Uu-chan, it doesn’t necessarily have to be you,” Ranma-kun grinned. Suddenly Ranma-kun, Ukyo, and Akane stared at Ryoga as he stuffed his face with cake. “What?” Ryoga asked with his mouth full. “Ryoga, how would you like to enter a game show and win an all-expensed paid trip to Jusenkyo, where you can visit Nyannichuan.” “Ranma, that’s not funny! There’s no way I’m going to have a baby,” Ryoga exclaimed as he lifted Yuji and started running away. “But, P-chan! It’s such a wonderful experience,” Ranma-kun teased as he ran after Ryoga.” “Hey, you guys. Wait up,” Ukyo said as she ran after Ranma-kun and Ryoga. Akane remained seated on the grass with Nodoka. “Yep, things will never change,” she sighed. “Whether Ranma’s married or has kids, he’s still a pervert!”
